In 1993, graphic designers Markus and Daniel Freitag were looking for a functional, robust and water-repellent bag. Drawing inspiration from the colourful traffic passing by their Zurich flat every day, the two creative talents made a Messenger Bag from recycled truck tarpaulins, bicycle inner tubes and disused car belts.
Thus it was that the first FREITAG bags, authentic recycled one-offs, came to life in the living room of their shared flat.
