Sugar was founded in 1978 in Arezzo on the initiative of Beppe Angiolini. Initially conceived as a small retail business, the company immediately set itself the goal of offering a curated selection of international high fashion brands. The company's headquarters remain in Arezzo, testifying to the link with its Tuscan roots.
The 1980s and 1990s represented a period of significant growth for Sugar, which gradually established itself as an international reference point in the fashion industry.
Thanks to Beppe Angiolini's vision, in which luxury, fashion, research and avant-garde coexist, Sugar develops important collaborations with the best international brands, consolidating its position in the market.
The window displays overlooking Corso Italia are an extension of this aesthetic and attract the attention of fashion, art and design enthusiasts.
In 2016, the company took a decisive step toward digitization by launching its e-commerce site, which brings the exclusive experience of the physical store online.
The online platform becomes a natural extension of the boutique, a place where passion for fashion and attention to detail coexist with the efficiency and accessibility of the digital age.
In 2018, Palazzo Lambardi, the historic home of the noble Aretine family, became the boutique's new headquarters.
The project, a collaboration between Beppe Angiolini and Vincenzo De Cotiis, aims to stitch history with modernity through a skillful and sophisticated play of contrasts. Pre-existing elements such as wooden ceilings, frescoes, a hanging garden, a precious Vasarian fireplace and mosaic floors from the 1st century A.D. dialogue with contemporary design made of marble, metals, LED screens, and art prints.
The desire to build an experience beyond traditional shopping has led to the opening inside Palazzo Lambardi of hospitality-related activities such as the “No Sugar Please” bar and the “Sugar Rooms” residenza d’epoca.
In 2021, as the company continues to grow, Sugar inaugurate its new headquarters (HQ136), a modern and dynamic environment that reflects a desire for innovation and expansion.
Each new future challenge, as it has been in the more than 45 years of business, will be met with the passion and enthusiasm that have allowed a small business to establish itself among the most internationally recognized multibrand boutiques, while remaining true to Sugar's original identity.
